What is there to do at Sustainable Safari®?

With your admission ticket, you will be able to view and interact with most of the Safari’s animal species.

No reservations are required for regular admission.

What you can do at Sustainable Safari®

  • Each admission purchase includes a free small feed cup. You may upgrade to a larger cup if you so wish!
  • An entry ticket will allow you free movement around the animal displays to view all the animals and the ability to interact with and feed most of them.
  • Tickets include all-day admission; once purchased you may come and go as you please. We will stamp your hand for easy re-entry!


Animal Encounters – Extras to do at the Safari

If you feel inspired to experience (enter the exhibit), hold, and feed our animal ambassadors, we have animal encounters available for purchase!

There are three types of animal encounters:

  1. Holdings
  2. Feedings
  3. Experiences

Holdings

Sit, hold, and cuddle an animal in your arms for 4 minutes. Pricing and age limits vary.

Feedings

Receive the complimentary food to feed an animal up close! Pricing, age limits, and feeding times vary.

Capybara Experience

Experiences

Enter the animal exhibit and experience the animal up close!

No open shoes! Closed shoes are required for all Experiences.

Note: Some animals become unavailable due to scheduling and rotation.


Holdings

Sit and hold an animal in your arms for 4 minutes. Pricing and age limits vary.

Cuddle with a Baby Kangaroo or Wallaby

$10 | Ages 5+

For 4 minutes, you can snuggle with a baby kangaroo or wallaby. Our baby kangaroos and wallabies are available to cuddle and pose for pictures throughout the day. (Ages 5 and up.)

Hold a Little Goat

$5 | Ages 5+

De-stress and cradle an adorable baby goat! Our farm has a large family of goats. Goats are exceptionally playful, and each has its own personality. (Ages 5 and up.)

Hold a Snake

$5 | Ages 5+

Holding a snake can be a lot of fun! Our snakes are familiar with people and are used to being held and petted. They are beautiful and strange creatures when examined closely. (Ages 5 and up.)

Alligator Holding

$5 | Ages 5+

Holding a baby alligator is an exhilarating experience. These animals give you a real sense of amazement and joy during this encounter. (Ages 5 and up.)

Hold a Bearded Dragon

Hold a bearded dragon. These prehistoric-looking lizards are enjoyable to hold and interact with. (Ages 5 and up.)

Hold a Turtle

Cradle a baby turtle in your hands. See for yourself how cute they are. (Ages 5 and up.)

Baby Opossum Holding

Hold an Opossum

$10 | Ages 5+

Virginia Opossums are America’s only marsupial. Discover for yourself how cute and cuddly these critters are! (Ages 5 and up.)


Feedings

We give you special food to feed these animals up close!

Lemur Feeding

$7 | Ages 5+

Meet our Ring-tailed Lemur family with this specialized feeding experience! Lemurs are highly social primates from Madagascar and are known to live in groups of up to 30. (Ages 5 and up.)

Binturong Feeding

$10 | Ages 5+

Feed and meet our Binturong! Binturongs are also known as bearcats and are native to South and Southeast Asia. (Ages 5 and up.)

Feed an Anteater

$10 | Ages 5+

Hand-feed our Tamandua Anteater! These gentle creatures have no teeth and mainly eat ants and termites. Don’t worry; you won’t be feeding bugs out of your hand – we have our own special anteater blended food! (Ages 5 and up.)


Experiences

Enter the animal exhibit, experience the animal up close, and feed our friends their favorite snacks!

No open shoes! Closed shoes are required for all Experiences.

The Tree House

Feed Stick $4.00 | ALL ages

Our parakeet encounter holds about 200 birds. When you have a seed stick ($4), the birds visit you dozens at a time. (All Ages.)

Guinea Pig Village

$5 | AGES 5+

Take a journey into the Guinea Pig Village! Feed and pet these cute little villagers. (Ages 5 and up.)

Porcupine Experience

$10 | Ages 5+

Be one of a select few who say they pet a porcupine! Our Safari Guides will assist you with this specialized feeding and interactive experience. (Ages 5 and up.)

Woodland Walkabout

$10 | Ages 5+

Stride alongside our adorable hooved friends: Thompson’s Gazelle, Nyala Antelope, and the White-Tailed Deer. Feeding is included in this experience. (Ages 5 and up.)

Capybara Experience

Capybara Experience

$10 | Ages 5+

Venture into the Capybara habitat! Capybaras are the largest rodent in the world. They are known for their friendly interactions with humans and other animal species in the wild. (Ages 5 and up.)

Red Fox Experience

Is anyone up for a cuteness boost? Hand out with a red fox! They are bound to lift your spirit! (Ages 5 and up.)

Guided Safari Tour

Do you want the whole Safari experience? Meet and learn about our animals on the Guided Private Tour!

Spend 90 minutes behind the scenes and explore the Safari with our professional Safari Guides! Have fun with up-close specialized feeding encounters. Interact with most of our Safari animal species.

We are located on the 2nd Floor at the southwest end of the Mall. Park in the Kohl’s upper-level parking lot and enter at Maplewood Mall door #2.

Please Note: We are closed on the following federal holidays for our animals and employees to enjoy their time off with their families.
Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, and 4th of July.
